Beautiful art and very entertaining

This is a beautiful manga with more realistic art style (no huge eyes typical of many manga and anime) and a very distinct feel and mood throughout. The author of the original story, a famous novelist, Yumemakura Baku, agreed to this manga project only because he could have Okano Reiko for the manga artist. So, it's a great synergistic collaboration.
The story, set in the Heian period, is about a beautiful yin yang sourcerer called Abe no Seimei, who is rumored to have a human father and a fox mother. It deals with elements such as sorcery, demons, ghosts, spirits, etc. The costume and architecture of that era are also of special interest and enhance the enjoyment of this series. If you enjoy spooky Japanese historical drama, you'll love "Onmyouji" series.
Great historical manga

When I watched the movie Onmyouji I also found out about this manga. At first sight the art looked terrible and I was really nervous when ordering it. But after looking through and reading the translation my friend made I fell in love with this book.
The story is so much more interesting then the movie, it develops the characters, gives the reader an inside look of the Japanese imperial court, makes you feel like you participated in all the adventures of a fox-like yin-yang master Seimei and his friend Hiromasa.
The art is not exactly anime-like, which we're used to see, it's realistic and the realism is a great plus. Makes it look like an ancient drawing. I recommend this one to everyone, who's interested in Japanese history and occultism.
